Mabele Fuels

Mabele Fuels Pty (Ltd) is a company registered in the Republic of South Africa whose business is the manufacture of fuel-grade ethanol from sorghum for sale to the South African biofuels market.
The Company was founded and incorporated in 2005 and intends to build a bio-ethanol-from-sorghum plant in Bothaville in the Free State Province. The plant will have capacity to produce 153 million liters of fuel-grade bio-ethanol per year and is expected to come online in Q2 2012.
Mabele is a unique cooperation between, historically disadvantaged individuals and specialists in the clean energy market. After the exclusion of the use of maize for ethanol production in the Biofuels Industrial Strategy (December 2007) the Company was acquired by shareholders Sterling Waterford and its empowerment partners, Mvelaphanda and Zahir Williams, who shared an alternative vision for the Company, being the use of sorghum as a feedstock crop for the production of bio-ethanol. The global trend towards renewable energy sources, together with the sophistication of the production technology and opening of potential markets, make the conversion of agricultural feedstock crops to ethanol an attractive opportunity.
Gecco Group

Gecco is a company which licenses its own patented proprietary technology which uses Vacuum Pyrolysis, a simple, low-cost technology capable of processing a wide variety of feed stocks producing gases, oil, oil variants and charcoal.
The Gecco technology has a competitive advantage over existing vacuum pyrolysis technologies in terms of yield, which has been independently shown to produce yields that exceed competing pyrolysis technologies by between 15% and 20%. For example, in the case of plastics a yield in excess of 90% is achieved. This results in very high IRR's on new plant installations, at current prices in the region of 70%, and makes the application of vacuum pyrolysis technology to waste remediation extremely economically viable.
The technology is modular and scalable, allowing numerous small installations that can be commissioned in a period of six months from commencement of engineering, and can be scaled up as production volumes increase. The technology provides waste collecting jobs for low-income individuals and opportunities for skilled technicians. This benefits communities through waste clean up (public health benefits), the use of local feed stocks and by providing decentralized energy and fuels as well as charcoal to increase soil fertility and organic matter levels.
